The conference will be hosted by the Faculty of Science and Technology of Akita University, organized by staff members of the <a href=\"http:\/\/mathsci.math.akita-u.ac.jp\/\">Mathematical Science Course<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The purpose of the workshop is to bring together researchers from the abovementioned fields. The study of computer science and basic algebraic systems is interconnected, they influence each other in various ways, therefore we would like to invite contributions in semigroup theory, group theory, logic, formal languages, automata theory, universal algebra and related topics. We believe that this gathering will offer a good opportunity to share ideas, new directions of research and help initiate cooperation among participants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The dates and location of the conference fit conveniently with other professional and cultural events in the region:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.icm2014.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">International Congress of Mathematicians<\/a>\u00a0(South Korea): August\u00a013-21<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kantou.gr.jp\/english\/\" target=\"_blank\">Akita Kanto Festival<\/a>:\u00a0August 3-6<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.japan-guide.com\/e\/e3755.html\" target=\"_blank\">Aomori Nebuta Festival<\/a>:\u00a0August 2-7<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Authors are invited to submit an abstract at most one page in length, following the <a href=\"ftp:\/\/ftp.springer.de\/pub\/tex\/latex\/llncs\/latex2e\/llncs2e.zip\">LNCS style<\/a>\u00a0to the email address\u00a0<a style=\"color: #1155cc;\" href=\"mailto:sla14@math.akita-u.ac.jp\"><span class=\"il\" style=\"color: #222222;\">sla14<\/span>@math.akita-u.ac.jp<\/a>\u00a0or using the submission tab on the conference webpage\u00a0http:\/\/first.sciencesconf.org\/.\u00a0The volume of collected abstracts will be available to participants at the conference. We are planning to publish a special issue of an international journal, e.g.\u00a0the International Journal of Foundations of Computer Science (IJFCS),\u00a0devoted to\u00a0the conference. The submission and selection procedure for this special\u00a0issue will\u00a0be announced after the conference.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travel support<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A limited fund is available for supporting travel costs, primarily targeting students who wish to participate.
