By\u00a0plane<\/strong><\/p>\n

JAL<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0ANA<\/a>\u00a0operate multiple\u00a0flights\u00a0per day from\u00a0Tokyo\u2019s\u00a0Haneda Airport<\/a>\u00a0and Osaka\u2019s\u00a0Itami Airport<\/a>\u00a0to Akita Airport. Flight duration is about 70 minutes and 90 minutes, respectively. Discount tickets\u00a0are usually available with early reservation. Buses connect Akita Airport with Akita Station in the city center (40 minutes, 900 yen one way). See the\u00a0schedule<\/a>\u00a0of the buses (in Japanese; the columns under the dark red heading are the departure times from the airport and arrival time at Akita Station and Akita City Office, respectively).<\/p>\n

By train<\/strong><\/p>\n

Direct Komachi trains on the\u00a0JR Akita Shinkansen\u00a0travel between\u00a0Tokyo\u00a0and\u00a0Akita. The one way trip takes around four hours, costs about 17,000 yen and all seats require seat reservations. There are hourly departures, and the trip is fully covered by the\u00a0Japan Rail Pass\u00a0and\u00a0JR East Pass. You can plan your trip by train at\u00a0Hyperdia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

By night bus<\/strong><\/p>\n

Akita Chuo Kotsu and Odakyu Bus operate\u00a0overnight buses<\/a>\u00a0between Tokyo and Akita. The one way journey takes about eight hours and costs 9,450 yen, while a round trip ticket costs 16,000 yen and must be used within ten days. The route is also served by discount bus companies, such as\u00a0Willer Express<\/a>, with one way fares from around 6,000 yen.<\/p>\n

In Akita<\/strong><\/p>\n

The conference will take place at\u00a0Akita University<\/a>. It is located at a 15 minutes walk from the east exit of Akita Station (see map below). You can also take a taxi from the station, with a fare around 800 yen.<\/p>\n
